into a musical family Celso Pixinga chose the bass as his first instrument.
As a professional musicican, he’s worked with a fine crop of
players: Cesar Camargo Mariano, Gal Costa and Cuban-born piano titan,
Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
Pixinga plays all electric basses (4, 5 and 6 stringed and fretless)
with verve.
The CD “Quase Acústico” (Almost Acoustic) combines
original compositions in Brazilian traditional rhythms fusioned with
contemporary jazz, including a very fast version of the classic “Giant
Steps”, setting a new standard for the fellow bass players.
