“RÁDIO”
EDSON JOSÉ ALVES

While writing arrangements, movie scores and shows, “Radio” was taking shape. “It’s my homage to some radio DJ’s that have been dedicating their programs to instrumental music”, says Edson.
His compositions and arrangements were influenced by some of the great masters of Brazilian music, such as Pixinguinha, Tom Jobim and Villa-Lobos.

“Radio” is a cheerful dedication to Brazilian composers; to his family and neighborhood…memories and homages that he enriches with mastery and beautiful melodies.

Edson José Alves started guitar classes with his father, Jucy Alves. Edson Alves graduated at the Villa-Lobos Conservatory on classical guitar, counterpoint, chamber music, composition and conducting.
In 1970 he started working with Popular Music, and since then he’s been working with Brazilian and International Artists such as: João Gilberto, Dominguinhos, Johnny Alf, Chico Buarque, Antonio Nóbrega, Shirley Bassey, Burt Bacharah, participating also in the musical production, composition, arrangements and performing for Artists and Record Companies (Odeon, Eldorado, Ariola, Velas…).

Edson recorded three solo albuns: “Meu Violão Brasileiro” (My Brazilian Guitar), 1981; Preama, 1987 and Radio, 1993.
He did orchestral arrangements for movies like “Menino Maluquinho2”, “A Aventura”e o “Primeiro Dia”.
