In 1997 Cilene Peres heard that São Paulo’s trombone player Bocato had just finished a work featuring songs by the great Brazilian composer Pixinguinha. As Pixinguinha’s Centennial celebrations were just starting, she decided to produce and release the CD Tributo a Pixinguinha (Tribute to Pixinguinha). This launched the Mix House label, which opened a path to many works of Brazilian and international artists that are producing quality music.

The second release of Mix House label was also produced by Cilene Peres with Cuban’s clarinet and saxophone player Paquito D’Rivera, one of the best Latin Jazz interpreters, winner of many Grammy awards.

Mix House’s mission is to keep music’s cultural character, recording and launching artists and works that hadn’t been properly disclosed yet in its catalogue. Each album has its own creative elements and a differentiated repertoire that explores a variety of musical styles.
